Family Medical History
Tendencies for many health conditions are genetically passed from one family member to another. The more you know about your family's health history, the more you can do to reduce your risk for heart disease and many other conditions. To be able to best recognize these tendencies, you need to map out your family's medical history.
Direct Effect
If an immediate family member had heart disease or a stroke, especially at a relatively early age, you are at greater risk. A family history of diabetes, high blood pressure or high blood cholesterol also increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
